  • Examples: Plastics, Neurosurgery, Vascular, ENT, CT, EM, ITU, Urology, OMFS, Paeds Surg, General Surg.

4) Neck of femur (NOF) fracture operations completed (STS or STU)

  • Consultant-validated logbook required (include consultant name/signature/GMC).

5–6) Publications in PubMed-indexed journals (since undergrad)

  • Q5 First-author papers: 2 pts each (provide PMID).
  • Q6 Other-author papers: 1 pt each (provide PMID).
  • Exclude abstracts, case reports, letters, and technical tips.
  • Weighting: ((Q5×2)+Q6) ÷ N, then capped at 8.

9) Stand-alone higher degree (examined by thesis/dissertation)

  • Not intercalated. Masters (e.g., MSc/MMedEd/MS/MCh(Orth)/ChM) = 1 pt; PhD/MD = 2 pts.

10) Leadership / management roles

  • Evidence required (e.g., signed letter). Local/Regional = 1 pt; National/International = 2 pts.

11) Teaching experience (last 2 years)

  • ≥4 formal sessions/year with evidence = 1 pt; PG-cert/dip/masters in education or substantive role = 2 pts.
