1) ENT experience after foundation (to 5 Aug 2026)

  • Count post-foundation ENT time up to 5 Aug 2026 (or 7 Oct 2026 for core schemes ending Oct 2026).
  • Include training and non-training jobs; for locums, use actual dated stints.
  • 60% LTFT equivalents apply; >48 months scores 0 (over-exposure).

2) Highest postgraduate qualification

  • PhD/MD (research): supervised original research (≈2–3y FT).
  • Masters (MSc/MA/MRes/MPhil/MCh): ≥8 months FTE, not primarily clinical training.
  • PGDip/PGCert in education/health, typically taught with smaller dissertation.
  • Exclude basic medical degree MD; intercalated degrees don’t count.

3) Publication 1

  • Provide full PubMed citation with PMID. “Formally accepted” counts.
  • Score by Impact Factor (IF) band; abstracts/letters excluded.
  • Book chapters must have an ISBN (not self-published).

  • Same rules as Publication 1; choose your next best output.

5) Collaborative research

  • Must be a recognised collaborative (e.g., INTEGRATE or similar).
  • Provide PMID/acceptance and evidence of your role (steering/site lead/data).

6) Audit / QI 1

  • Two-cycle QI required for 1–2 pts; leadership = design + lead delivery + supervise others.
  • Provide signed audit form (or supervisor email) and evidence of presentation.
  • 0 pts regardless: VTE, notes/handwriting, WHO checklist, pre/post teaching/course.

7) Audit / QI 2

  • Same rules as above; pick a second, distinct QI/audit.

8) Presentation 1

  • Oral/poster you delivered; must be original work.
  • In-person only; online meetings don’t count. “Accepted but not yet given” doesn’t count.
  • National/International = open to countrywide or wider; Regional = training region/county level.

  • Apply the same rules; choose a second best talk/poster.

10) Ear procedures

  • Count cases coded P, S-TU, or S-TS in ISCP/e-logbook; max 2 simulations per category.
  • Includes: grommets, myringotomy, removal of grommet.
0–4=0, 5–9=1, 10–14=3, ≥15=5 (max 5 pts)

11) Nose procedures

  • e.g., nasal polypectomy, septoplasty, FESS, reduction of nasal fracture (GA/LA), septal abscess/haematoma drainage, EUA nose & cautery (GA), inferior turbinate reduction, adenoidectomy.
  • Same logbook and simulation rules.

13) Throat / neck procedures

  • e.g., direct pharyngoscopy (GA), direct laryngoscopy (GA), panendoscopy, tracheostomy, neck node biopsy, excision of skin lesion.

  • e.g., EUA & foreign body removals (ear/nose/pharyngo-oesophageal/laryngotracheobronchial) under GA, I&D neck abscess, arrest of post-tonsillectomy bleed, pinna haematoma drainage/abscess, pinna laceration repair.

15) Teaching involvement

  • Face-to-face courses only; online courses don’t count.
  • A “course” runs ≥1 full day (or consecutive days), ≥15 delegates, defined topic, with pre- and post-course feedback.
  • Medical student programmes cap at 2 pts.

16) Qualification in medical education

  • PGDip (≥120 credits) = 2 pts; PGCert (≥60 credits) = 1 pt.
  • An MSc in education may score here (2 pts) if not already used as your Masters in section 2.
